Two door cabinet with two drawers at the base from a temple, Shanxi province, mid 18th century. The bamboo and lotus ornamental framing around the front is typical for cabinets that originate from temples. The front is covered with a black lacquer over an older red coat of lacquer. On the sides a, typical for the period, brittle layer of clay and lacquer partially flaked off. Original hardware and shelf-board. Repairs on both back-legs. The boards on top of the cap are partially replaced. All hinges’s pivots have been replaced as well as the apron between the front legs. A couple of small repairs to ornaments.
