A large panel of gold brocaded silk with geometric design and dragons among clouds roundels. Probably 19th century, possibly earlier. Dim.: 64,5 x 141,5cm. The weaving is a goldish yellow ground colour. The roundels and other areas show a (faded) green. The dark brown areas are the once gold gilt paper weaving. The gold is gone, leaving the dark lacquer once used to adhere the gold. There's a modern backing to strengthen the panel. There are conditional issues and one should study the pictures well: -some stains, considerable wear along folds and edges to the paper strip weaving. Despite the problems it's a visual strong textile from a distance. It probably has been used in a Tibetan temple as a curtain or altar cloth.
