A large strip of gold brocaded silk with a repeating pattern of geometric motifs. Dim.: WxL 27 x 113 cm, no selvage. Mounted on blue cotton on foam-board (34x119cm) The yellow background suggests that the weaving was intended to be used in the Forbidden City as furnishing fabric or a hanging. Good condition with much of the flat gold intact. Period: 1st half to mid 18th century (Qianlong).
