A pair of black lacquered cabinets, Shanxi province, around 1700.
The black lacquer on the front is old but the painted leaves and flowers have worn off
and are now only vaguely visible. The thick black lacquer on the inside of the doors is in very good condition
and of a quality that one would not encounter anymore in the course of the 18th C.
All drawers are replaced as well as the hardware and part of the hinges.
Despite this still rare as a pair and considering the age. Waxed, not re-lacquered.
